About The Board

The Science and Technical Education Board was established on 29th July, 1993 after the enactment of Law No.2 1993. The purpose of establishing the board is to provide an enabling environment for future manpower development in the fields of medicine, engineering, and other science and technical-related disciplines for the state.

The Board oversees 17 Schools and 1 vocational training centre, including 11 Science schools and 6 Technical schools.

Functions of The Board

  • Establishment and control of Science Secondary Schools, Technical Colleges, and Vocational Training Centres
  • Ensuring courses of instruction conform to the national Policy on Education
  • Preparing and implementing conditions of service for staff
  • Appointment, promotion, dismissal, and disciplinary control over staff
  • Acquiring equipment, materials, furniture, and other properties
  • Preparing and submitting annual reports to the Governor
